Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, and the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul. (Wassily Kandinsky)
Aloha,
If you’ve been following this blog for a bit you already know that I believe in the necessity and power of beauty in all its forms to positively affect our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
According to the late, abstract expressionist, Wassily Kandinsky, ” Color hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body.”
Given that each of the 6 senses is linked to a particular color and subtle energy center (chakra),
Smell -Red
Taste -Orange
Sight -Yellow
Touch -Green/Pink
Sight -Blue
Intuition -Lavender/Purple
and in honor of the upcoming exhibition “Now Hear This” at the cool, bird’s nest of a contemporary art gallery, Spalding House, nestled high above hot and hectic Honolulu, I’ve been inspired to post some of my favorite paintings (and quotes) by a few of the featured artists over the next several weeks.
I really hope you enJoy them. Feel free to let me know about your favorite paintings and the role color currently plays in your life!
Love,
Sabrina
