Sharing Paradise

Hawaii is not a state of mind, but a state of Grace. ~ Paul Theroux

Hello Beautiful People!

When I lived in the Islands full time I used to council mainlanders who wanted to move to Maui to reconsider….  Aloha is as much a state of mind as a geographical location.

All thanks to Daily Celebrations for the following:

Hawaii has the key and that key is ALOHA.” ~ Pilahi Paki

Aloha Hawaii

Written by Hawaiian poet and philosopher Pilahi Paki, and adopted by the Hawaii Legislature in 1986 ([§5-7.5] “Aloha Spirit”), the meaning of Aloha comes from the heart and is given freely.

A renown and beloved linguist, Paki gave spiritual meaning to each letter of the word aloha:

A stands for AKAHAI, meaning kindness, expressed with tenderness.

L is for LOKAHI, meaning unity, expressed with harmony.

O is for OLU`OLU, meaning agreeable, expressed with pleasantness.

H stands for HA`AHA`A, meaning humility, expressed with modesty.

A stands for AHONUI, meaning patient and persevering.

Whether a visitor or kama’aina (resident), the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands inspires the heart and mind.

“Aloha was a recognition of life in another,” explained writer Helena G. Allen. “If there was life there was managoodness and wisdom, and if there was goodness and wisdom there was a god-quality.”

The magic of aloha is contagious. Each day, the key is to “Live Aloha:” Help anonymously. Forgive hurts. Keep every agreement made. Give and share freely. Slow down and spend time in silence and engage your senses in Beauty big and small everyday.
